Simsbury Community Band

 

Mission Statement

As a concert band, the Simsbury Community Band exists to : 

• Provide an opportunity for quality musical experience by adult band musicians through the rehearsal and performance of band music.

• Provide the community with well performed band concerts.

Membership

Membership is open to any adult:

• Whose musical abilities are commensurate with the general level of the band (i.e., can play the band’s music after a reasonable amount of normal individual practice). 

• Who is willing to attend the required number of rehearsals and concerts. 

• Who will contribute in a positive way to all of the Band’s activities.

 

Size and Instrumentation

As a volunteer community organization, the Band seeks to be inclusive rather than exclusive. However, the size of the organization must be managed to some degree in order to maintain an appropriate musical balance and to be sure the Band will fit its rehearsal and concert settings. While it is expected to happen infrequently, an interested candidate for membership may have to be placed on a "waiting list" until such time as there is "room" in the organization. The music director, section leaders and officers will have final authority on the Band’s size and membership.
